Holistic/biological dentistry recognizes the connection between dental health and total body wellness. As a biological dentist, Dr. Kim is aware of the implications that disease in the mouth as well as dental materials used in the mouth have long lasting affects on other systems in the body. Dr. Kim when necessary, will go above and beyond to test for the compatibility of dental materials. At times, Dr. Kim works with health care providers that are like-minded to provide nutritional support and to provide detoxification from the damage caused from previous oral toxins placed in the mouth and body. As a biological dentist, Dr. Kim appreciates whole body health just as he does the health of the mouth.

In fact, Dr. Kim and his dental team have been successful in implementing the latest in technologies to help diagnose and treat conditions in the mouth by selecting safe and superior dental materials for each individual client. CEREC technology utilizes biocompatible porcelain ceramic material which is free of metal and mercury to create beautiful crowns, inlays, and onlays in just a single appointment. Laser dentistry takes advantage of minimally invasive techniques with treatment of many cavities with the Biolase MD, often without the need of injections. The LANAP laser procedure with the technology of Periolase, allows us to effectively treat gum disease without the discomfort and tissue removal associated with traditional scalpel and suture gum surgery. The DIAGNOdent laser helps to detect cavities at their earliest stages before they are discovered through traditional means, which allows for laser injection free fillings. Pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions can be detected with our Velscope oral cancer screening. We have the technology to safely remove mercury fillings with the use of our IQ Air mercury vapor high speed vacuum unit, rubber dams, and oxygen mask. Blood testing is available to select the most biocompatible materials for sensitive individuals. Ozone therapy can be used to destroy bacteria in cavities and other areas in the mouth. Proper nutritional supplements also can greatly aid in the treatment of dental disease without the use of controversial substances such as fluoride, mercury, and heavy metals. Dr. Kim also has training to treat obstructive sleep apnea with holistic support combined with dental appliances. Some TMJ chronic pain and dysfunction can be the result of improper bites or occlusion. Dr. Kim's extensive training in Bioesthetic dentistry focuses on creating harmony between the occlusion of the teeth and the position of the jaw into the skull. If a client is suffering due to missing teeth or loose dentures, dental implants can make all the difference. And of course, beautiful smiles accomplished through metal free restorations can easily be accomplished, one of Dr. Kim's passions in the dental field.

Because of several requests by clients to remove their sliver mercury amalgam fillings, Dr. Kim decided to attend a conference held by the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology). There he learned about the dangers of mercury in dental fillings and other potentially toxic substances commonly found in dental materials and products. This has sparked his passion to help his clients to achieve true dental wellness thereby helping his patients become healthier. Dr. Kim is an accredited member of the IAOMT and holds fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He holds an associate fellowship in the World Clinical Laser Institute and is also pursuing accreditation in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, is on the path for associate fellowship in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and is associated with the IAMDS (International Association of Mercury Safe Dentists). He’s a graduate of the Loma Linda Implant Maxicourse, the Esthetic Professionals Comprehensive Esthetics Residency, the Implant Seminars Continuum, and the USDI Orthodontic Course. He also continually expanding his dental knowledge yearly with numerous training and continuing education seminars throughout the United States.
